DCRS are proud to have partnered with Manchester Enterprise Academy (MEA) recognised as a centre of excellence in supporting students is one of the top 100 most improved schools in England and has transformed results in all areas.

The Challenge

Their old radio system required a radical transformation, suffering with a poor coverage footprint messages weren’t getting through and MEA knew they need to move forward to protect both the staff & pupils, priority was a future-proof system that could grow with their site.

The Solution

DCRS proposed to MEA options from leading manufacturers and after carrying out a site survey they decided on the compact, smartphone style radio Motorola’s MOTOTRBO™ SL1600. With a Shatterproof Active View display even the heaviest of radio users such as the caretakers now have a product that can withstand knocks and bumps. Adding in the battery conservation function users are getting up to 12 hours per day which is ideal for the early morning workers.

“After reviewing 3 companies, DCRS were my chosen two way radio provider to replace our old analogue radio system. The MOTOTRBO SL1600 was our chosen model and ensures that all colleagues, first aid & pastoral staff can be contacted at all times as there is no loss of signal anywhere in the Academy. The MOTORBO radios have been perfect for our requirement, they give good, clear communication for all the team”.

Avril Lotto, Business Manager, Manchester Enterprise Academy.

Super Yacht Kathleen Anne upgrades to MOTOTRBO™ digital two-way radios

Super Yacht

The 127.95ft / 39m SL39 'KATHLEEN ANNE' was built in 2009 by Feadship. It is capable of carrying up to 8 crew on board and sleeping up to 10 guests. Timeless styling, and beautiful furnishings feature throughout her living areas creating an elegant and comfortable atmosphere, ensuring a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Working with the Motorola GP344 analogue two way radio since the yachts launch Captain, Ben Taylor felt it was a natural progression to move to a MOTOTRBO™ digital two way radio when the GP344 ceased production. After reviewing a number of compact portables the crew decided upon the MOTOTRBO™ SL1600 digital hand portable radio. With its sleek, curved edges and rugged frame the MOTOTRBO™ SL1600 is the perfect on board communications partner that can be easily carried in a pocket without snagging, or bulging. The Shatterproof Active View display uses hidden LED lighting to communicate channel, radio, and volume information crisply in both daytime and night-time situations.

Captain, Ben Taylor commented "The MOTOTRBO SL1600 has streamlined our communications, and made messages clear and quiet allowing us to operate discretely on board".

Top Safety Accreditation for DCRS Ltd

DCRS has been awarded accreditation from Safecontractor for its commitment to achieving excellence in health and safety.

Safecontractor is a leading third party accreditation scheme which recognises very high standards in health and safety management amongst UK contractors. The company’s application for Safecontractor accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the business. Safecontractor is applicable to most sectors although it is particularly relevant to food manufacture, property, facilities management, retail and leisure sectors, all of which are big users of contracted services.

John Kinge, technical director of Safecontractor said, "Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place."

"More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that DCRS has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector. Safecontractor plays a vital role in supporting our clients in meeting their compliance needs, whilst working with their contractors as they progress through the accreditation process.”

Under the Safecontractor scheme, businesses undergo a vetting process which examines health and safety procedures and their track record for safe practice. Those companies meeting the high standard are included on a database, which is accessible to registered users only via a website. Client-organisations who sign up to the scheme can access the database, enabling them to vet potential contractors before they even set foot on site. These clients agree that, as users of the scheme, they will engage only those who have received accreditation.

Digital Radios vs Mobile Phones

Where instant, reliable communication is vital mobile phones are not holding up to the challenges & environments users are putting them through. Research taken by VDC in 2014 showed that they are unreliable, and do not give workforces the safety features they need to protect them.

The below PDF documents demonstrate how digital radios can overcome common mobile phone challenges, such as:

  • Significantly higher total cost of ownership
  • 18-20 % failure rate
  • Poor audio quality and coverage

DCRS were proud to work alongside the production team for the Sky TV premier of the Game of Thrones Season 5 which was held at the Tower of London last week.

Providing them with a 12 x Channel MOTOTRBO Repeater System we gave all users instant communication which included direct production, Sky PR, sound & lighting engineers, catering and a number of contractors such as Athena Security, Deboer, Volvo Cars and Peak Electrical. The siting of the repeaters and antenna system meant full radio coverage was achievable with hand portables across all required areas throughout the Tower of London.

Prior to the event DCRS set up site tests with the production company to ensure they were completely satisfied with the radio coverage and the equipment that we were going to supply. We tailored the system to meet their needs for this prestigious event and by providing the necessary charging units & spare batteries which were fixed in the main production office it ensured everyone had one central point to return to.

DCRS provided a full time engineer for the three days which involved the build-up, event and then break down. He managed the radio system, gave full instructions to all users on how to utilise it and ensured all equipment was safely broken down and retrieved at the end of an event.

    Equipment Supplied:

    • 3 MOTOTRBO Repeaters with Antenna System
    • 200 MOTOTRBO Radios
    • 200 Remote speaker mics and surveillance kits

Romford Shopwatch Upgrade with DCRS to MOTOTRBO Digital Two-Way Radios

As long standing suppliers of Shopwatch / Pubwatch Schemes across the UK and current members of the Association of Business Crime Partnerships we here at DCRS realise the importance and benefits that all retailers, publicans and public sector workers gain from having a two way radio system in their City / Town.

We have recently upgraded Romford Town Link Radio Scheme with MOTOTRBO™ Digital Two Way Radios. Working with town centre management, licensees and retailers Romford Town Centre has a very successful town link radio scheme. All the radios are connected to their CCTV suite and are also carried by police officers in the town centre. The radios allow for the quick and effective communication of messages which helps the whole city to connect and reduce local crime and antisocial behaviour.

The primary purpose of the upgrade was to improve the efficiency of the system and enhance the features & functions currently utilised by the users.

    Initial Site Survey

After initial site surveys which we carried out city wide, DCRS’s qualified engineers recommend the MOTOTRBO™ DP3400 (non-display) and DP3600 (display), made by Motorola. To give the coverage required they installed a MOTOTRBO™ DR3000 Repeater at a central location with a MOTOTRBO™ DM3600 Mobile which de-codes all transmitting ID’s at the CCTV in Mercury House, Romford.

    MOTOTRBO™ DP3400 & DP3600

With intelligent audio and crystal clear audio the MOTOTRBO™ DP3000 Series is ideal for even the noisiest of areas such as Nightclubs and Pubs. All users have a simple ID so that any all call or, one to one call can be easily identified by any user whether it is a fellow user, CCTV Control or Police. The enhanced battery life enables workers to keep going 40 per cent longer between charges compared to analogue.

We offer a completely managed service for the scheme. Before the upgrade DCRS visited site and promoted the new system alongside the team. Providing them with full information, costs and application forms to make the system sign up easy and uncomplicated. DCRS also invoice all members, collect the membership fees and utilise our own in house credit controllers to chase payments. This helps reduces paperwork, time & effort to allow the Business Crime Partnership concentrate on other tasks.

If you would like to discuss an upgrade or enhancements to your Business Crime Partnerships or if you are working towards a BID contact Ash Robinson on 01246 268600 or email to discuss any requirement you may have without obligation.

DCRS Upgrade Wigan DW Stadium to MOTOTRBO DP2000 Series Hand-held Portables

    MOTOTRBo DP3441

The impressive DW Stadium in Wigan, Greater Manchester, is home to Wigan Athletic FC, recent winners of the FA Cup, and Wigan Warriors Rugby League Football Club, current Super League leaders. The stadium covers a significant footprint of 38,700m², not including car parks and access roads. The maximum seating capacity is 25,133 across four single-tier stands.

The operations teams had been successfully using Motorola Solutions’ analogue radios since the stadium opened in 1999. However, these radios were now outdated and there were some black spots in the stadium. Transmissions were sometimes unclear, especially during noisy games and in far reaching corners of the stadium. Moreover, a channel was not always immediately available, with potentially serious consequences during emergencies.

DCRS recommended that Wigan Football Company upgrade its analogue radio system to a new MOTOTRBO digital radio system.

The MOTOTRBO DP2000 Series digital radios now provide enhanced voice communications throughout the stadium on four new Ofcom frequency licenses obtained by DCRS. The new system has substantially improved communication throughout the stadium, reduced reaction times to incidents and increased worker efficiency.
